SAP Business One Shopify integration
SAP B1 stays your system of record, and the store gets live stock and prices from it. Orders, customers and invoices flow back to SAP without anyone retyping them.

What syncs
What moves between SAP Business One and Shopify
Every flow is scoped up front - what goes where, which way, and how often.
Items and variants
Items (OITM) become Shopify products and variants by item code. User-defined fields can carry descriptions, attributes and images.
Price lists
One price list for the store, or per-customer lists for B2B, including tax groups and currency. A price change in SAP updates the store automatically.
Stock by warehouse
Quantities by warehouse (OITW) map to Shopify locations, with the option to calculate available stock after open orders and commitments.
Orders
Every Shopify order is created as a Sales Order in SAP B1 with lines, discounts, shipping and payment. The Shopify order ID is stored in a UDF for fast lookup.
Customers
Business Partners are created or matched by email and phone. B2B customers get their own payment terms and price list.
Delivery, invoice and tracking
Delivery notes and invoices are created in SAP; status and tracking numbers return to Shopify and keep the customer informed.
How it works
Five steps, no surprises
From a short scoping session to ongoing maintenance. You know at every point what's being built, what's been tested and what's live.
- 1
Scoping: what connects to what
A short working session where we mark exactly what moves between SAP Business One and Shopify, and in which direction: products and prices, stock by warehouse, orders, customers, invoices, shipment status. You leave with a short, plain spec and no surprises later.
- 2
Access and permissions
We set up a dedicated API user in SAP Business One with the minimum permissions it needs, and a custom app in Shopify with exactly the scopes required. If you have a sandbox or test company, we build against that first.
- 3
Field mapping and build
We map SKUs and variants, price lists and tax, shipping and payment methods, then build the integration on our own service with logging and alerts. Every business rule you have - what happens when an item sells out mid-checkout, for instance - gets a defined behaviour.
- 4
Testing in parallel
We run test orders end to end, stock scenarios, returns and credit notes, and check that the numbers in SAP Business One and Shopify match exactly. Only once everything reconciles do we connect the live store.
- 5
Go-live and maintenance
We launch with monitoring on and watch the first days closely. Later changes - a new field, another warehouse, a second store, a rule that changed - are an update to an integration that already exists, not a new project.
The technical side
How we connect to SAP Business One
Service Layer, not the DI API
We work against SAP B1's Service Layer (REST/OData), available from version 9.3 on both HANA and MS SQL. Stable, documented, and nothing to install on the SAP server.
Secure access to the server
Many B1 installations are on-premises. We open access to our service by IP allow-list or VPN, with a dedicated integration user and the right licence.
The item code is the key
ItemCode in SAP is the SKU in Shopify. Variants map by naming rules or user-defined fields, depending on how your catalogue is structured.
Timing and logic
Orders move immediately via Shopify webhooks; stock and prices are pulled from SAP on a short interval you choose. Every run is logged, every failure raises an alert.
Edge cases
Returns and credit memos, cancellations, an item selling out mid-checkout, a customer who exists twice in SAP, several stores against one company - each gets a defined behaviour at scoping.
Other systems
We connect these too.
Same process, different ERP. Each one gets its own field mapping.

Shopify ERP Integration: Connector, iPaaS or Custom - How to Choose
There are three ways to connect an ERP to Shopify: the vendor's own connector, an integration platform like Celigo, or a custom build. What each one actually covers, what the official connectors leave out, and the rules that decide which you need.
Shopify to Shopify Plus: When to Upgrade (2026 Guide)
Most Shopify brands should upgrade to Plus when revenue passes $1M and operational limits start costing more than the $2,300/month fee. Here's the honest cost breakdown, the operational signals, and a 90-day migration plan.
Frequently Asked Questions
We run SAP B1 on SQL Server, not HANA. Does that work?
Yes. The Service Layer is available on both platforms from version 9.3. On older versions we'll decide together whether to upgrade or work through the DI API.
Do invoices come from SAP or from Shopify?
From SAP, so your tax documents and reporting stay in one place. Shopify gets a link or file to send to the customer.
Can we start with part of it and extend later?
Yes, and it's what we recommend. Start with whatever hurts most - usually stock and orders - then add invoices, B2B customers or another store as an update to the integration you already have.
Do you work with Shopify Plus?
Yes. Shopify Plus adds native B2B, company price lists and checkout extensibility, and we use them wherever they make the integration simpler or more capable.
Does our SAP partner need to be involved?
Usually only to create the integration user, assign a licence and open server access. We do the mapping, build and testing, and coordinate with them where needed.
What happens when something fails, like an order that doesn't come through?
The integration retries automatically, and if the problem persists it sends an alert with the order and the reason. Everything runs through a queue, so any order can be replayed. No order disappears quietly.
How long does it take?
It depends on scope. Connecting stock and orders is faster than a project with B2B price lists and several warehouses. After scoping you get an exact timeline before anything is built.
